Representative from Arunachal Pradesh to National Youth Parliament to be held on January 11 and 12, Chello Meme was allegedly molested in Guwahati.

The incident took place on Saturday at the Inter-State Bus Terminus in Guwahati when Chello Meme along with two others from Arunachal Pradesh were on their way to New Delhi to participate at the National Youth Parliament.

In the video posted by Chello Meme in her Facebook and Instagram accounts, which has gone viral in the social media, Chello Meme has been seen confronting the accused even as he tried to escape.

The accused man identified as Shafikul Rehman allegedly kept on touching her private parts in the back.

“While traveling for Delhi I stopped by ISBT Guwahati where these sitting at my back was touching my butt. When I caught him he tried to escape,” Chello Meme claimed in her Facebook post.

“To all girls take right action at right time. Don’t just depend on others stand for yourself,” Chello Meme further said.

“These are the reasons why women are afraid of being raped at all time. And it is because of people like you, all men are blamed and shadowed,” Chello was heard saying to the accused in the viral video.

Meanwhile, amidst public outcry for action in the social media against the accused, Additional Director General of Assam Police (ADGP) for Law and Order, GP Singh has ordered the Guwahati Police to register a case in regards to the incident and begin investigation.

GP Singh further asked the Guwahati Police to keep him updated on the progress on the case.

“Guwahati Police register a case in regards to the case. Keep me informed on action taken,” GP Singh said.

Notably, three youths from Arunachal Pradesh who were adjudged the top three in the State Youth Parliament will represent the State at the National Youth Parliament to be held on January 11 and 12 at Central Hall of Parliament in New Delhi.

Chello Meme, Reshab Burman and Vishal Dutta will represent the state in Central Hall of the Indian Parliament at NYPF 2021.
