Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Pema Khandu on Monday interacted with tribal priests, who are locally known as Nyibus at the seminar-cum-workshop on ‘Priesthood of Arunachal Pradesh’ in Itanagar.
The 15-day workshop on the priesthood that commenced on Monday has been organized with the aim of educating the people on the rich ancestral wisdom and knowledge of different tribes residing in the state.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that tribal priests or Nyibus are the custodians of the cultural traditions of the different tribes of Arunachal Pradesh.
“Tribal priests from all over #Arunachal who are locally known as ‘#Nyibu’ are gathered at Itanagar for the 15-day seminar-cum-workshop on priesthood of Arunachal. Nyibus play an important role in tribal society and are the custodian of our cultural tradition,” Pema Khandu tweeted.
“We are keen to preserve, protect and pass on the wisdom of our ancestors to future generations. A 15-day seminar-cum-workshop on priesthood of #Arunachal, a first of its kind in the state is being organised to educate the people about our ancestral knowledge and wisdom,” he further said in his tweet.
