Naresh Kumar took over charge as the new Chief Secretary of Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday.

After taking charge, Kumar called on Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) BD Mishra at the Raj Bhavan in Itanagar and discussed several matters in regards to the State.

Kumar, a 1987-batch IAS officer, succeeded Satya Gopal as the Chief Secretary.

Gopal, a 1988-batch IAS officer, has been transferred to Delhi.

The Governor, while welcoming Kumar to the State, shared with him the expectations the people of the State have from him as he would be holding the highest bureaucratic chair.

The Governor, who has already toured every district of the State, apprised the new Chief Secretary of the important areas which need immediate attention.

He expressed his concerns, particularly of the health and education amenities in far-flung areas of the State.

The Governor further wished Kumar a successful and satisfying tenure in the most strategically located frontier state of the country.

Kumar also met Chief Minister Pema Khandu who welcomed the new Chief Secretary of the State.

Prior to his joining as the Chief Secretary of Arunachal Pradesh, Kumar was the chairman of New Delhi Municipal Council.

Kumar had earlier served in Arunachal Pradesh as the Additional Deputy Commissioner at Naharlagun and also as the Deputy Commissioner of Lower Subansiri district.
