Itanagar: Former Miss Arunachal 2021, Tengam Celine Koyu, has filed a legal notice against the Miss Arunachal organization, alleging that she has not received the promised incentive amount for her participation in the Femina Miss India 2022 pageant.

Koyu claims to have borne the entire cost of her participation, relying on the organization’s assurance that the expenses would be reimbursed by the department of youth affairs.

Addressing a press conference at the Arunachal Press Club (APC) on Tuesday, Koyu expressed her disappointment with the organization’s lack of accountability and attempts to create discord between her and the reigning Miss Arunachal, Tadu Lunia.

She clarified that she had never claimed sole credit for initiating a school renovation project, emphasizing her desire for continued support from all Miss Arunachals and the general public for this cause.

Koyu also revealed that many promotional activities she undertook during her reign were performed without payment, but she had not pursued the matter at the time.

She mentioned that a sanction order for Rupees ten lakh was released on 4 October 2023, but the funds were allegedly misused by the managing director and chairperson of the organization.

The reigning Miss Arunachal, Tadu Lunia, is set to compete in the Miss India pageant. Koyu expressed her concern that the controversy could negatively impact Lunia’s chances, apologizing for any collateral damage.

The managing director of the Miss Arunachal Organization, Tai Roket, denied the allegations, stating that the organization has always supported Koyu’s efforts for the school renovation project.
