Arunachal Pradesh butterfly

The Arunachal Pradesh government has declared Kaiser-i-Hind (Teinopalpus imperialis) as the state butterfly.

The decision to declare Kaiser-i-Hind as state butterfly was taken at the Arunachal Pradesh Cabinet meeting held at the Pakke Tiger Reserve in Pakke Kessang district, for the first time outside the state capital of Itanagar.

The butterfly carries ‘India’ in its name and it is found in southern China, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal and Bhutan.

Kaiser-e-Hind is a very rare and elusive swallowtail butterfly.
