The Indo-China border at Bum La in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang witnessed a festive environment on Thursday due to joint celebration of the Chinese Mid Autumn Festival 2019.
The festival was jointly celebrated by the Indian Army and the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China.
According to history, the Mid Autumn Festival became an official celebration during the period of Tang Dynasty (618-907 CE).
The Chinese Mid Autumn Festival 2019 falls on September 13.
However, the Indian Army and PLA celebrated the festival a day in advance.
Informing about the celebration, the Eastern Command of the Indian Army on its Twitter handle on Thursday stated: “Indian Army and People’s Liberation Army (#PLA) jointly celebrated Chinese Mid Autumn Festival 2019 on 12 Sept 2019 at Bum La, Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh in an environment of bonhomie and festive cordiality.”
The festival is also known as the Chinese Moon Festival.

This Chinese Festival brings families together to celebrate the harvest under a full moon.
The festival is celebrated to give thanks for nature’s abundance and also for joyful reunions with the loved ones.
As part of the celebration of the Chinese Mid Autumn Festival 2019 at Bum La, both the personnel of the Indian Army and PLA had interactions among them, exchanged gifts and posed for joint photographs.
The Chinese people living in different parts of the globe also celebrate the festival.
The festival is celebrated with mooncakes and lanterns abound.
Elaborate lantern displays, cultural performance and fireworks also mark the celebration of the festival.
