The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has slammed the state government and the health department’s “lackluster” attitude in dealing with the Covid19 pandemic.

Addressing media persons at the Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan in Itanagar on Wednesday, APCC president Nabam Tuki said the BJP-led government has failed to control the spread of Covid19 virus in the state.

Tuki said if the virus reaches the village level, it would not only create major problems but would also claim several innocent lives.

“The state government and the health department are taking the pandemic very lightly. The district, community and primary health centres in the state still lack proper medical facilities,” Tuki said.

“The government should come up with appropriate Covid-19 management strategies and chalk out plans to contain the further spread of the virus,” Tuki added.

Tuki further claimed that Covid19 testing is also not being done properly in Arunachal Pradesh.

“As of now testing is the only approach to contain the spread of the virus but the state government is ignoring it. Moreover, it is also behind in terms of spreading proper awareness on the virus,” he said.

The APCC chief also took a dig at the state government over the spending of Covid19 funds.

“There is no transparency and accountability in regards to Covid19 funds in the state. The funds received from the central government should be used judiciously,” he added.

Tuki also hit out at the government over the progress of Trans-Arunachal Highway construction in the state.

“The TAH sanctioned during the UPA government under former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is yet to be completed.

“Due to the negligence of the state government and department concerned, the road condition of the Itanagar Capital Region at its worst condition,” he said.
