Amid nationwide lockdown women from Arunachal Pradesh are stocking up vegetables to distribute it to daily wage workers and non-local migrant workers in the state.
This was tweeted by Arunachal Chief Minister Pema Khandu.
“I thank our Arunachali women farmers & villagers who are voluntarily contributing vegetables from their farms for further distribution to daily wage workers and non-local migrant workers in the state. Deeply touched by the generosity of these farmers,” Khandu tweeted.

Retweeting the tweet, Nagaland author Dolly Kikon said, “How wonderful! Food sovereignty on the ground. This story from Arunachal Pradesh in Northeast India about sharing food with daily wage workers and out of state migrants highlights the generosity of our human spirit. Thank you amazing citizens!”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for a 21-day lockdown to control the spread of coronavirus pandemic, which has claimed 25 lives so far in the country.
A number of migrant workers have been stuck in several places including Arunachal Pradesh and the northeast.
So far no positive cases have been reported from Arunachal Pradesh, even though two persons from Northeast have tested positive.
