The Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) has vehemently condemned the alleged gangrape of two minor girls at Namsai recently.

To get firsthand information of the incident, the APSCW team visited Namsai on Thursday and spoke to SP Ankit Kumar Singh and the investigation officer regarding the case.

Accordingly the police informed that the girls were of 12 and 13 years and all the five alleged accused have been booked under sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.

The four alleged accused persons were arrested on September 6 whereas the one who was absconding was attested the next day, the police told the APSCW members.

APSCW chairperson Radhilu Chai Techi in statement informed that as per the information given to the Commission, the incident took place on September 5 in a rented house at Namsai.

The two victims were lured by one of the alleged accused with beer and chips and later, all of them rape the two minors.

The statements of victims have been recorded and evidences have been seized from the place of occurrence, Techi said.

The APSCW team also visited the victims and their families and informed them regarding the Arunachal Victim Compensation Scheme.

The members assured to cooperate with the victims if required.

The Commission has further urged the police to expedite the investigation and at the same time urged all to cooperate with the police for proper and smooth investigation of the case.
