A 50-meter-long build-up girder (BUG) bridge over Siru River at Sesilikar village in West Siang district was opened for the public on Friday.

The first BUG and longest bridge of the 27th Liromoba Constituency in West Siang district was a long felt demand of the people living at Dego Kamki, Goli balek, Sesi Likar and Sirutali villages, officials said.

Besides acting like a lifeline for the villagers, the bridge would also boost the agriculture sector of the region, they added.

The construction of the bridge falls under the Dego Kamki to Sirutali Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana road construction work and is an initiative of local legislator Nyamar Karbak.

Congratulating people of the area, Karbak hoped that the bridge would help many prosper in the field of agriculture and its allied activities, besides easing road communication for all.

“The bridge would be formally inaugurated after the lockdown or whenever feasible,” Karbak said.

Present on the day to supervise the load test were RWD executive engineer Michi Nibo, assistant engineer Nyomar Karbak, junior engineer K Talukdar and officials from the construction firm.
