The Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) of Arunachal Pradesh is celebrating its 37th foundation anniversary at its campus on Monday and Tuesday.

It is for the first time that the university is observing a two-day mega anniversary celebration.

Former chief minister Gegong Apang will grace the occasion as the chief guest on Monday.

He will also inaugurate the academic building of the physics department.

The varsity will also honor Apang for his immense contribution in gaining the status of central university.

On the second day, Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Brig (Dr) B D Mishra and chief rector of the university and will attend the function as chief guest.

While Prof G C Tripathi, chairman, Higher Education, Government of Uttar Pradesh and former vice chanclellor, Banaras Hindu University will deliver the foundation anniversary address on the topic ‘Role of Education in Nation Building’.

The Governor will also give away the awards for exceptional achievement by university students on the occasion.

To mark the foundation anniversary, RGU is also organizing several activities, such as, essay writing, volleyball, football, marathon and other literary and athletics competitions.
