In a first of its kind for the state of Arunachal Pradesh, Lohit deputy commissioner Prince Dhawan on Thursday formally launched “e-Prison” at the district jail in Tezu.
E-prison is a service which looks to address the concerns and mitigating the woes of prisoners, citizens, prison administration, courts, police and other investigating agencies by going digital.
Addressing a large gathering present to witness the launch, Dhawan stated that the initiative is a huge achievement for the district, as this is the first e-Prison to be launched in the entire state.
“With the introduction of e-Prison, the prisoner management system in the district will become more robust, efficient and accurate,” the DC said.
Dhawan asked the deputy superintendent of police to immediately do away with the process of manual filing of date and henceforth process all the correspondence and data related to district jail through e-Prison.
Dhawan also lauded the effort of the DSP, district jail, Tezu, district informatics officer June Kadu and his team and all the officers concerned for the successful implementation of the said project in the district.
A short power point presentation on e-Prison was presented by the EAC and a demo on entry of prison data was also shown during the launch programme.
Meanwhile, Dhawan on the day also launched e-ServicePlus, an end-to-end integrated solution which caters to the needs of various departments and public online.
E-ServicePlus is a single, unified, metadata-based portal to citizen and government alike where any service can be defined, accessed, delivered and monitored.
Speaking on the occasion, Dhawan informed the gathering that henceforth, six types of certificates namely scheduled tribe, permanent resident, income, dependant and character certificates will be issued through e-ServicePlus in the district.
The DC said that the service will also bring government to the doorsteps of the people and citizens can apply for these certificates anywhere, anytime and from anyplace.
“The system will bring more accountability, reliability, transparency and fast service deliverance to the denizens of the district. Also the practice of running from one office to another office for getting a mere certificate will be the thing of the past,” Dhawan said.
The DC further appreciated the effort of district informatics officer June Kadu and his team for implementing the project in the district successfully within a short span of time.
He requested the members of Cultural and Literary Society of Mishmi, All Mishmi Women Welfare Society and Bazar Committee who were present in the launch to disseminate the information to the public so that the service reaches to the far and wide.
The programme also saw digitally signed certificates were also distributed to the beneficiaries.
