A consignment of 200 pulse oximeters donated by Union minister of state for youth affairs and sports, Kiren Rijiju arrived on Wednesday at Lower Subansiri district in Arunachal Pradesh.
Lower Subansiri deputy commissioner Somcha Lowang received the consignment at the circuit house in Hapoli in the district.
A pulse oximeter is a device that is used to measure the oxygen level and pulse rate in the body.
Expressing gratitude, SomchaLowang said the oximeters will be of great assistance in monitoring the health conditions of Covid-19 patients in Covid Care Centers and home isolation.
“A modality will be worked out to issue the oximeters to Covid-19 patients, ensuring that the needy are benefitted from this donation,” she said.

The DC further brought to the notice of Rijiju the lack of amenities like platform for cremation, water connectivity, etc at the lone cremation ground at Tarin, which was constructed from his MPLAD fund.
“During this pandemic unclaimed bodies of Covid-19 patients have to be disposed off by the district administration. The lack of facilities in the cremation ground is posing a lot of difficulties,” she added.
Lowang further informed that the maintenance of the approach road to the cremation ground will be taken up soon and called for voluntary contributions from all the heads of departments.
