Lohit deputy commissioner Prince Dhawan inaugurated the newly-built operation theatre at Tezu Zonal General Hospital on Monday.

Tezu is the headquarters of Lohit district and it is around 370 km from Itanagar.

The new operation theatre has been funded under the Mukhya Mantri Rogi Kalyan Kosh (MMRKK) scheme of the state government and its construction was executed by the rural works department.

It boasts of special features like fully air-conditioned rooms, separate waiting and duty rooms for the doctors and nurses, separate sterilization, laundry and washing rooms, among others.

The two-bedded operation theatre has the capability to conduct two operations simultaneously and is fully equipped with all the modern machines.

Meanwhile, DC also inaugurated the telemedicine facility in the hospital later on the day.

The telemedicine service would help patients connect with specialist doctors of Tomo Riba Institute Health and Medical Sciences, Naharlagun.

Dhawan, while dedicating the new operation theatre and telemedicine service to the denizens of Lohit, expressed hope that the people would vastly benefit from the services.

He also lauded the efforts of the rural works department and the medical team for successful and timely completion of the projects.
