The nationwide lockdown called by Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the aim to prevent the spread of coronavirus has added to the woes of the divyangjans people of Arunachal Pradesh.
“Due to the lockdown, there has been an acute shortage of food items in the state. Due to this a number of divyangjans are now hugely depended on their neighbours for a morsel of a meal,” said an official of the All Arunachal Pradesh Divyangjans’ Welfare Society (AAPDWS).
“Moreover, the divyangjans are having great difficulty in managing their daily needs,” the official added.
The official further added that it is not easy for them to move around and manage food and other essential items.
“We have urged the state government to look into our problems and help us and our families,” the official added.
Rojot Gaduk, the general secretary of Arunachal Pradesh Paralympics Association (APPA), has sought the intervention of the administration to mitigate the sufferings of the divyangnas.
“We don’t have vehicles to move around and buy the essential and other food items and we are facing an acute shortage of these. I urge the government to intervene and help us,” Gaduk said.
He thanked his neighbours for helping him at this crisis hour.
“I have also submitted a letter to the capital complex DC and have requested him to arrange home delivery of rations for the convenience of people like us,” he further said.
There are a total of 26,745 divyangjans in Arunachal Pradesh and each one of them are facing problems in managing their daily needs, Gaduk informed.
“The extension of the lockdown will only pile up our miseries,” Gaduk further said.
