A consultative meeting was held on Friday at the Speaker’s conference hall to discuss the plan for creating infrastructural facilities in the headquarters of the newly-created four districts of Arunachal Pradesh – Lepa Rada, Shi-Yomi, Pakke Kessang and Kamle.
The consultative meeting was held under the chairmanship of Arunachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Pasang Dorjee Sona.
The meeting was attended by Basar MLA Gokar Basar, Raga MLA Tarin Dakpe, Pakke Kessang MLA Biyuram Waghe and the deputy commissioners of the four districts.

The meeting was also attended by the chief engineers of all works departments, director of town planning, director of APEDA and executive engineers of the districts concerned along with consultants from New Delhi.
Sona, who also represents Shi-Yomi district as MLA, said the main objective of the meeting was to discuss, interact and understand the problems at the ground level from the district administrations and line departments concerned in the newly-created districts.

Underscoring the importance of the meeting, the Speaker emphasised on proper planning and process for the new districts and to avoid haphazard way of doing things like in the past.
Citing the examples of older districts which were developed without proper planning and preparations, Sona said that the roadmap for the development of new districts should be done properly to avoid problems in the future.
“Our planning should be for 100 years,” he said.
He highlighted four major areas – water supply, power, communication and accommodation – for immediate attention in the newly-created districts. He advised the district administrations and all the line departments to work in unison to develop the new districts as model districts.
Waghe stressed on proper town planning, potable water supply, power and accommodation.
He called upon the departments concerned to make proper planning on the basis of available land and resources and leave no room for future discrepancies.
Basar took serious note of the encroachment on government lands and said it must be stopped.
He suggested an end to the individual land allotment system on government land meant for government infrastructures.
Dakpe also emphasised on initial planning to avoid future problems in the district headquarters.
He said Raga, being a virgin land, offers a lot of scope for planning for a model district headquarters.
The DCs, chief engineers, and other officers of the four districts shared their ideas and suggestions for various infrastructural facilities in each headquarters.
They highlighted the challenges being faced in the districts due to lack of proper accommodation, water and power supply.
The officers also requested the MLAs concerned to look into the land acquisition process for early execution of developmental works.
Earlier, the representatives from the New Delhi-based EY Consulting explained how to move forward with the development of various infrastructural facilities in the new district headquarters.
