Anshu Jamsenpa from Arunachal Pradesh is one woman achiever whose name will be scripted in golden letters if ever a book on Indian women achievers is written.
She is not only the first female mountaineer from Northeast to scale the Everest, but is also the only Indian female climber to climb it twice in 5 days.
Speaking to a popular news agency on the occasion of International Women’s Day she said when she started out a decade ago, she had no idea about mountaineering at all.

But once she became familiar with it, she never looked back, she said in the interview
“I had to face a lot of struggles but I never gave up,” Jamsenpa said in the interview.
Jamsenpa climbed the Mount Everest for the first time in 2011 and then again for the second time just within 10 days- a national record of that time.
She climbed the highest peak in the world for the second time in 2013 and then in 2017 she climbed it twice in 5 days- a world record till date.
With no support, in the beginning, the lion-hearted Jamsenpa, however, did not give up and she convinced her family with her hard work.
Speaking on empowerment, Jamsenpa said, “Empowerment is something that is unique to each individual. For some, it is education, while for others it is economic independence.”
She strongly feels that if one is self-confident and have self-belief, then one can say that she/he is empowered.
“PM Modi’s campaign is a praiseworthy initiative and this will highlight the accomplishments of countless female overachievers who would otherwise have gone unnoticed,” she said while praising the Prime Minister’s #SheInspiresUs campaign.
