President Ram Nath Govind will confer India’s highest adventure award ‘Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award’ instituted by Government of India Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports to ace mountaineer Anshu Jamsenpa of Arunachal Pradesh on September 25 at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi.
The award is in recognition of Anshu’s persistent mountaineering achievements in the past few years.

She scripted history by climbing Mt Everest twice in five days. Her two attempts in the year 2014 and 2015 had to be abandoned half way through due to avalanche and earthquake in the Everest region which killed 16 climbing sherpas and 22 other mountaineers.
In spite of all odds, she became the first and only woman in the world to do two Double Ascents of Mt Everest and the first Indian woman to summit Mt Everest five times.
She also holds the unique record of scaling three Himalayan Peaks (Lobuche 20075 feet, Pokhalde 19343 feet and Island Peak 20305 feet) in just six days which is unparalleled in the mountaineering history.
Anshu will dedicate this prestigious award to women around the globe who everyday struggles hard to achieve their goal, whether big or small.
She further extends her heartfelt gratitude to the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju, Government of Arunachal Pradesh and all the friends, relatives and well-wishers who stood by her during her thick and thin.
Tsering Wange, president of Arunachal Mountaineering and Adventure Sports Association and Capt Raaj Kumar (rtd) has been invited to accompany Anshu during the gala award function at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
