The in-charge Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate of Itanagar Capital Complex, Talom Dupak vide an order has declared the proposed demonstration in front of the State Bank of India (SBI) at VIP Road, Itanagar and Naharlagun and in front of all ATMs of Capital Complex on April 20 from 9 am to 12 noon by Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) as illegal and has directed the APCC to refrain/desist from such demonstration in front of SBI, Itanagar and Naharlagun and all ATMs of Capital Complex.

This was informed by the DIPRO of Capital Complex of Itanagar.

The order was issued after it was reported in the local dailies that the APCC is going to hold demonstration in front of the State Bank of India at VIP Road, Itanagar and Naharlagun and in all the ATMs from 9 am to 12 noon on April 20, to protest against the severe cash crisis across Arunachal Pradesh.

The order stated that such types of demonstration by any individual/ groups or political parties is ‘illegal and unconstitutional and uncalled for’ which may lead to unpleasant situation in the Capital Complex and for maintenance of law and order and public peace and security of the people, immediate precautionary, preventive and other actions under law to be taken, as may be necessary.

The order further stated that there is a designated rally/ dharna ground near the tennis Court, I G Park, Itanagar for conducting any kind of dharna, protest, rally, etc and the APCC may use the designated dharna/rally ground at tennis court, near D-Sector Gate, I G Park to demonstrate any peaceful protest/rally/dharna for which a separate permission has to be sought from the district administration/concerned authorities.

The in-charge Deputy Commissioner has further informed that the APCC has not followed the system and has not intimated the district administration about the proposed demonstration and the leaders of the party shall be held responsible in case of any damage to public property.
