In order to encourage the participants and runners and promote the Tawang Festival 2018, which began on October 26, 2018, Arunachal Pradesh’s young Chief Minister Pema Khandu joined the Marathon of Tawang Festival 2018 themed as ‘Run for Nature’ this morning (Monday) at Tawang.

According to information, the marathon was joined by 500 participants.

The marathon covered 5 km from Tawang Monastery to Tawang War Memorial.

Arunachal Chief Minister Khandu thanked Tsering Tashi, the MLA of Tawang Legislative Assembly, for organizing the race.

Informing about his participation in the marathon as part of the Tawang Festival 2018, Chief Minister Khandu stated on his Twitter handle: “Took part in Marathon of Tawang Festival 2018 ‘Run for Nature’ this morning at Tawang with 500 participants covering 5 km from Tawang Monastery to Tawang War Memorial. Thanks to Tsering Tashi Ji MLA Tawang for organizing the race.”

Chief Minister Khandu also uploaded some of the images of the marathon race where he was one of the runners.

He informed that the marathon was joined by participants including young, old and students.

Earlier, Festival director Tsetan Chombey informed that the theme of the Tawang Festival this year is ‘Save nature, protect environment’.

The marathon race was organized under the sponsorship of local MLA Tsering Tashi, as a prelude to the festival.
