Union minister of state (independent charge) for power and new and renewable Energy R K Singh has assured his all out support and cooperation for robust development of power system in Arunachal Pradesh.

The assurance from the union minister came after deputy chief minister Chowna Mein called on the former at his office in New Delhi on Wednesday.

In his meeting, Mein appraised Singh on the power scenario of Arunachal Pradesh while they also discussed several matters for development of hydro-power in the State.

Mein briefed Singh about the technical problem in the Kameng Hydro-Power (600 MW) which needs to be solved immediately for early commissioning of the project.

Informing that all formalities for Dibang Multi-purpose (2800 MW) project had been completed, the deputy chief minister pressed for early start of the project.

He also informed the union minister that the hydro-power projects of 22 power developers in the State were terminated due to their inability to make progress in their respective projects even after years of signing MoU with the State government.

He further requested the union minister for early release of funds under Saubagya and Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana of the preceding year and the need to expedite the Comprehensive Power Transmission Scheme.

Mein also requested for a package from the Centre to replace and renovate the old infrastructure for ensuring uninterrupted power supply system in the State.

Union minister Singh said that two machines of Kameng Hydro-power project will be made functional soon and the rest two machines after six months. He also assured that the Dibang Multi-Purpose project would be started soon.
