The 3rd edition of the 10-day-long Liromoba Sports Carnival 2018, which offered an array of games and sports including football, marathon, volleyball, etc., came to a successful end here at the general ground recently.

In all 18 teams from 20 ASM segments under the 27th Liromoba Assembly Constituency participated in the sports carnival which aims at promoting games and sports in the rural areas and also provides a platform to the budding sportspersons to showcase their talent.

Speaking at the closing ceremony as chief guest, Liromoba MLA Nyamar Karbak said the event was conceived with a motive to spot talents and to foster the spirit of teamwork among the panchayati raj leaders.

“This sports carnival is slowly turning into a landmark event and it will go a long way to hunt sports talents from the far flung and backward areas of the constituency, he said.

Karbak on the occasion also highlighted the sports policy of the government and the reservation quota that is in place for the meritorious sportspersons.

He further informed that the next edition of the event would be held at Yomcha.

Organising chairman of the carnival, Kajar Gamlin also spoke on the occasion.

Meanwhile, the football finals was won Darak Boje ASM Segment, while the volleyball competition saw All Karbak Geyi ASM Segment defeat Bopu, Lirum and Rise Dordi ASM Segment to be crowned champions.

The marathon in the women’s category was won by one Kiter Bole and she was closely followed by Keyi Romin who stood second.
