Four days ahead of 71st Independence Day celebration, BJP president Amit Shah chopped off Northeast from the map of India.

The BJP chief while addressing a rally in Kolkata on Saturday talked about Kashmir to Kanyakumari as well as Bengal to Gujarat but excluded Northeast in his speech.

Shah in his speech appealed to the gathering to utter Bharat Mata Ki Jay as loudly as they can so that the resonance ‘can be heard from Kashmir to Kanyakumari as well as Bengal to Gujarat’.

Northeast, dubbed as Astalaxmi by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was , however, missing from his speech who addressed the rally in Bengal with a pledge to bring change.

At a time when Prime Minister Modi and BJP top brass often mention ‘Act East Policy’ when it comes to Northeast development, chopping of the Northeast from India’s map by the saffron party chief, has shocked the conscious section.

Unlike Jana Gana, Mana, the National anthem of the country composed by Rabindra Nath Tagore, where Northeast finds no mention, Shah too did not feel the need to mention the region in his speech when he talked about India.
