The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) backed candidates won the Post-Graduate Students’ Union (PGSU) election of Gauhati University on Tuesday, capturing both the president and general secretary posts.
The Satra Mukti Sangram Samiti (SMSS), the students’ wing of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS), won the post of assistant general secretary.
Luckymoni Baruah and Nayanjyoti Gogoi have been elected president and general secretary respectively of the PGSU.
Both Baruah and Gogoi were backed by AASU. SMS backed Elina Swargiyari elected assistant general secretary while Bidyut Bikash Baruah elected literary secretary of the varsity students’ body.
The results of the election, which was held on Monday, were announced on Tuesday evening.
