The Lakhimpur district unit of All Assam Students’ Union took out a massive protest march in North Lakhimpur on Thursday against rising price of fuel and food commodities in the state.

The student body shouted slogans against the state government saying that it had completely ignored the concerns of the common people who had voted them to power for a change.

The protesting students also shouted slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi by calling him a liar and came down heavily against Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.

Lakhimpur unit of AASU also decried the state government for rise in bus fare and its justification by transport minister Chandra Mohan Patowary at the state assembly. Later the AASU leaders submitted a memorandum for the Chief Minister through the Deputy Commissioner of Lakhimpur. Lakhimpur AASU also organized similar protest march at Dhakuwakhona.
