The Balajan Bazar Committee organized a programme in the memory of those who were killed in the Balajan Tinali attack in Kokrajhar district where 14 people died and 17 others injured when suspected militants opened fire indiscriminately in a busy market place in 2016.

The Balajan Bazar Committee members and the members of the victim families attended the programme and paid floral tributes to the victims who died in the firing.

The members of the victims’ families said the State Government and the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) assured them that a Government job would be provided to one member of each of the victim families but till date they the Government has not kept its assurance.

The members of the victim families said that they have been facing hardship to maintain day-to-day life. The injured informed that they have still been taking treatment in various hospitals taking loans.

The injured also urged the State Government and the BTC to provide them job and extend more financial assistance for their treatment.

The members of the victims’ families also expressed displeasure at the investigation process and they alleged that not proper investigation has taken place and they are yet to get justice.
