Two Israeli tourists including a woman were seriously injured when the Maruti Van they were travelling in collided with a tea-laden truck on the National Highway  at Hatbor area in Kaliabor in Nagaon district of Assam.

The Maruti Van bearing registration No.RJ 147C 0841 was traveling  from Kaziranga National Park towards Guwahati  (west direction)  when the accident occurred. Local people and police immediately rushed the injured tourists to the nearby Jakhalabandha  Hospital.

The injured tourists were referred to Tezpur Medical College and Hospital after they were  given preliminary treatment by doctors at Jakhalabandha government hospital.

The ill-fated Maruti van was driven by tourist John Ata who was travelling with one lady identified as Inbar. The front side of the van was severely damaged after the collision.

The truck carrying tea skidded off the national highway after the accident blocking the vehicular traffic on the busy route for quite some time after the administration and Jakhalabandha Police managed to clear the highway to facilitate traffic movement.
