Darrang district administration has directed the authority of the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya at Dhula to take steps to bring back the inmates of the residential school. The district administration’s directive came after all the fifty four inmates left the school on September 17 in panic following physical threats by unidentified miscreants on the previous night.

Uncertainty looms large for the last six days as the parents of the girls refuse to send their daughters to the school citing safety and security reasons.

Deputy Commissioner Ashok Kr Barman and Superintendent of Police Sreejith T on Saturday visited the school to take stock of the situation and possible security measures. Talking to media Superintendent of Police informed that two home guard jawans have been deployed as means of security measure of the inmates while the police have already identified the miscreants who have been absconding to avoid arrest.

“We have already identified the miscreants involved in the incident and search operation is on for them. The miscreants are presently absconding however they will be booked soon” the SP said.

Altogether 54 girl students studying in the residential girls’ secondary level school under the HRD Ministry left for home after unidentified miscreants with their faces covered barged into the hostel premises and tried to break open the door of the main boarding hall. The panic stricken girls then raised hue and cry and the warden of the hostel called up police.

The miscreants fled from the scene before the arrival of the police. They came back again and started pelting stones and hurling abusive language when the police had left the spot.
