Nepal and China will hold official dialogue on Protocol to the Transit and Transportation Agreement in Beijing on July 10 and 11.

“The two sides have agreed to meet in the second week of July in Beijing,” a senior official of Nepal’s Commerce Ministry said. The official, however, refused to divulge details on what levels the talks would be held.

It may be mentioned that on Wednesday Nepal’s commerce minister Matrika Prasad Yadav told Parliament that Nepal is awaiting approval of the draft of the protocol sent to China.

The two countries could not ink the agreement during Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s recent visit to China due to differences over the text of the agreement. This had compelled both Nepal and China to defer the agreement till July.

Nepal’s PM Oli blamed two previous governments for the delay in signing the protocol.
