Indian Ambassador to Myanmar Vikram Misri attended the Tri-annual Forum of Khumi (Chin) Leadership Council at Yangon, the national capital of Myanmar.
Misri briefed the participants at the meeting on various development projects undertaken by India in Myanmar and the growing bilateral relationship.
Informing about the meeting, the office of the Indian Embassy in Yangon (Myanmar) on its official Twitter handle on Saturday stated: “Ambassador Vikram Misri briefed the participants at the Tri-annual Forum of Khumi (Chin) Leadership Council on various development projects undertaken by India in Myanmar and the growing bilateral relationship.”
According to information, the Council meet was held in Yangon for three days from Thursday to Saturday.
The 2nd Khumi Forum has been working together for peace and development.
Misri had taken charge as India’s Ambassador to Myanmar on August 31, 2016.
It may be mentioned that in a major fillip to connectivity between the northeastern States and Myanmar, the international entry-exit checkpoints between Myanmar and India have recently been opened.
Both India and Myanmar have implemented the historic Land Border Crossing Agreement, which was signed on May 11, 2018 to take forward India’s ‘Act East’ Policy,
Both the sides have simultaneously opened the international entry-exit checkpoints at the Tamu-Moreh and the Rihkhawdar-Zowkhawtar border between Myanmar and India.
Vikram Misri, who has recently been appointed as India’s next ambassador to China, will replace Gautam Bambawale.
