Custom officials in China have ordered the destruction of three lakh more maps for not mentioning Arunachal Pradesh and Taiwan as a part of its territory.
The officials also decided to file a lawsuit against four suspects for intending to export the maps to the Netherlands.
According to reports, the customs bureau at the port of Wenjindu in China’s Guangdong province recovered 264983 ‘incorrect’ world maps in English for export to the Netherlands on January 17.
Custom officials claimed that the maps which will be destroyed have boundary mistakes in them and they jeopardize China’s territorial integrity.
The maps were printed by a company in Dongguan in China’s Guangdong province and the total number has been estimated to be 3,06,057. As per reports, all the 3,06,057 world maps will be destroyed.
Last month, nearly 30,000 world maps showing Arunachal Pradesh as part of India and Taiwan as a separate country have been destroyed in China.
China has always been claiming Arunachal Pradesh as part of South Tibet.
China also always objects to Indian leaders visiting Arunachal Pradesh.
It had also created quite a row when Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama visiting Arunachal Pradesh last year.
Beijing claims Arunachal Pradesh to be a part of China and depicts the state on its official maps as a part of south Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR).
The two countries have so far held 21 rounds of talks to resolve the border dispute covering 3,488-km-long Line of Actual Control (LAC).
China also claims the estranged island of Taiwan, a self-governing democracy, as its part and a breakaway province to be eventually unified.
It may be recalled that in April, 2017, China renamed six places in Arunachal Pradesh aimed at reaffirming Beijing’s ‘territorial sovereignty’ on the region.
