A woman has been gang-raped by a group of men in a college hostel of the Sylhet district in Bangladesh.
Media reports quoted police sources as saying that the incident took place in the hostel of Murari Chand College in Sylhet district.
Police sources said the incident occurred on the day when the victim along with her husband went to visit the college hostel.
The group of perpetrators tied up the husband and gang-raped the woman on Friday night, said the media reports.
Jyotirmoy Sarker, additional deputy commissioner (media) of Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP), said: “On information, police rescued the rape victim and her husband and sent her to the One-stop Crisis Centre at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital around 12.10 a.m.”
He added: “Police are trying to confirm the identities of the perpetrators and arrest them.”
According to the police sources, it has been suspected that the perpetrators were students of the college.
Till the filing of this report, the authority of Murari Chand College is yet to react to the incident.
