Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina resigns amidst protests: Reports

Sheikh Hasina was flown to India for security reasons

Guwahati: As tensions continue in Bangladesh, it was reported on Monday that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina may have resigned as she left the country.

While the exact details were not available, it has been reported Sheikh Hasina was flown to India in a military helicopter.

The decision to fly her to a safer location was taken after a massive mob of protestors demanded her resignation and approached her residence.

The protestors reached the PM’s official residence in Dhaka on Monday continuing with what could be termed as one of the worst violence in Bangladesh since its formation.

Army Chief of the country Waker-Uz-Zaman is also set to address the nation soon.
