New Delhi : Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Party leader Manish Sisodia, who walked out of jail after 17 months, on Saturday shared a selfie of enjoying a morning cup of tea with his wife.

Manish Sisodia, who has been behind bars for a long time, expressed his happiness by describing his morning cuppa with wife as ‘the first morning tea of independence’ in a post on X.

“First morning tea of ??independence…..after 17 months!” he wrote

“ The freedom that the Constitution has given to all of us Indians as a guarantee of the right to live. The freedom that God has given us to breathe in the open air with everyone.,” he added.

The Supreme Court on Friday granted bail to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi minister Manish Sisodia in cases registered against him in connection with the alleged excise policy scam.

A bench of Justices BR Gavai and KV Viswanathan said that the former Delhi deputy chief minister was deprived of the right to speedy trial by the trial court and High Court .

The judges, who also noted his 17-month-long imprisonment for both the CBI and ED cases, ordered his release on payment of Rs. 10 lakh in bail bonds.

As part of the bail conditions, he must surrender his passport, report to the police station every Monday, and avoid tampering with evidence or influencing witnesses.

Moreover, Sisodia has also been allowed to enter the Delhi Secretariat by the Supreme Court, which rejected an oral plea by the CBI and ED asking the AAP leader be barred from discharging official duties.

Interestingly, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, who was granted interim bail in May during the Lok Sabha elections, was barred from signing files and discharging his official duties.

Sisodia is the second AAP leader after Sanjay Singh to be granted bail by the Supreme Court in the excise policy case.

The AAP leader was arrested by the CBI under the Prevention of Corruption Act on February 26 last year.

Meanwhile, the ED also arrested him under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) on March 9 of the same year.
