New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted raids on Thursday at multiple locations, including premises linked to former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satyapal Malik, in connection with an alleged corruption case involving the Kiru Hydro Electric Power Project (HEP).
Malik, a former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader known for his vocal criticism of the current government, has accused the administration of “fighting the 2019 Lok Sabha elections by exploiting slain soldiers”.

He was Governor of Jammu and Kashmir from 2018 to 2019.
Interestingly, Malik had previously claimed to be offered a Rs 300 crore bribe to clear files, including one linked to the Kiru project.

This led to a CBI investigation initiated last month.
The CBI conducted searches at Malik’s residence and other locations, despite his hospitalization for the past few days.
He responded defiantly, stating his support for farmers and lack of fear regarding the raids.
The Kiru HEP project, valued at Rs 2,200 crore, is allegedly entangled in corruption regarding its contract award.
