Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Saturday said there is no reason to panic because of the debt burden of over Rs 11,000 left behind by the Left Front government.
Addressing a gathering to mark World Health Day at Rabindra Bhavan in Agartala on Saturday, the State Chief Minister said under the able stewardship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Tripura will be in the path of progress and development within the next three years.
Appealing the doctors of the State for a change in mind-set, Deb apprised that he had a fruitful meeting with Union Health Minister J P Nadda and discussed at length measures to boost the state’s healthcare sector during his visit to New Delhi.
He also disclosed that the Union Health Minsiter had assured him of extending full support to boost the state’s healthcare sector.
The Tripura Chief Minister further added that wifi facility would be available at PHC level so that patients could consult with specialist doctors sitting at their locality.
In his speech, State Health Minister Sudip Roy Barman said, “I am pained to see ailing people of the State rush to bigger cities of the country for better treatment. We have already begun a process to dissuade patients from going outside the state for receiving super specialty treatment as it affects state’s economy badly”.
The programme was also attended by Secretary of Health and Family Welfare, Samarjit Bhowmik; president of Public Health Foundation of India, Prof K Srinath Reddy; Director of Health Services, J K Debbarma and Mission Director of NHM Dr Sailesh K Yadav among others.
