The ONGC, which has been sharing a special emotional connect with the people of Assam since its inception, has given a new lease of life of mobility and freedom to a number of divyangs.
The ONGC has built an enduring relationship with the people of the state over several decades generously contributing towards the overall growth and development of the state in general and its operational areas in particular.
Continuing the endeavor, the company has launched a CSR project to help divyangs discover ‘joy of mobility’ who have resigned to the fate of immobility owing to natural causes and accidents.
ONGC Assam Asset through its CSR initiative has provided free intelligent robotic artificial limbs to several divyangs of Sivasagar and Charaideo districts of Assam.
During the final leg of a mega camp held at the Officers’ Club of ONGC in Nazira on Monday, the company provided 13 amputees among the divyangs.

According to a press communiqué, issued by ONGC Corporate Communications, Nazira, under the CSR project, 42 divyangs of Sivasagar and Charaideo districts of ONGC operational areas will be fitted with superior quality intelligent robotic artificial limbs with customized measurement.
Earlier, 9 divyangs were fitted with artificial limbs on December 17, 2018 at the ONGC Officers’ Club, Nazira.

“The cost of the first three phases of the project which includes 22 beneficiaries is Rs 43 lakh,” the press communique said.
There are many amputees in both the districts who need prosthetic and orthotic treatment but can’t afford due to the huge cost of the prosthetics.
The ONGC enabled the divyangs with the joy of mobility by providing superior quality intelligent artificial limbs with customized measurements.
“They can now go for a morning walk, hold a pen, write, rotate their wrist, flex the elbow, drink and eat independently,” it added.
The beneficiaries of the project were selected through the district administrations of Charaideo and Sivasagar districts.
On fitting the intelligent limbs, the joy knew no bounds on the face of the amputees.
Energized and encouraged by newfound confidence, they demonstrated their boundless ability to do normal day to day activities.
“These superior quality artificial limbs are extraordinarily agile, strong and light which will help regain independence and mobility of the amputees with its built-in smart robotics,” the communiqué said.
Speaking on the occasion, ED-Asset Manager of Assam Asset, SD Maske said, “Any disability can be life shattering. It should not come in the way of leading a life of dignity. It is our sincere efforts to enable the divyangs to lead a better life.”
Maske further reiterated that ONGC is a caring company and committed to spread smiles amongst the deserving beneficiaries in the society, especially in and around its operational areas.
“Our dream is to continue the endeavour to reach out to all the amputees of our operational areas,” he said.
He complimented the CSR team of Assam Asset led by Sanjay Goel, CGM (Head HR).
The Assam Asset manager thanked the district administrations of Sivasagar and Charaideo for extending their support to the cause.
Sivasagar deputy commissioner Dr Lakshmanon S highly appreciated ONGC’s proactive CSR and profusely thanked ONGC Assam Asset for the commendable initiative to help the divyangs which will help regain their mobility to lead a normal life.
“The initiative can’t be a mere CSR, rather it shows ONGC’s sincere commitment towards the needy people and society,” Lakshamanon added.
Greentech Foundation Charitable Trust chairman K Sharan thanked ONGC for conducting such a camp in Assam extending support to the divyangs.
