Assam recorded the first case of swine flu death this year after an elderly man recently expired due to H1N1 infection at Narayana Superspeciality Hospital in Amingaon.
The 75-year-old man identified as Bhagawan Prasad died at 5 am on Wednesday last.
The information was shared on Sunday.

Prasad, who hails from Tamulpur area of Baksa district, was first taken to a hospital in Rangiya.
However, he was later admitted to Narayana Superspeciality Hospital after his condition became serious.
As per reports, the man who was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday was suffering from high fever and was found to have a septic shock with left ventricular failure.
Prasad unfortunately developed cardiac arrest in the wee hours on Wednesday. He later expired on the same day.
His medical test which was conducted in the microbiology department of Gauhati Medical College and Hospital confirmed that he was suffering from H1N1 infection.
Swine flu is a respiratory disease which infects the wind pipe (respiratory tract) of pigs and gets transmitted to human beings. It results in nasal secretions, cough, decreased appetite and restlessness.
