The Community Health Centre (CHC) at Ruksin of Arunachal Pradesh, which is the only functioning First Referral Unit (FRU) of the frontier State got a facelift on Wednesday as Arunachal Pradesh Health & Family Welfare Minister Alo Libang inaugurated a Blood Storage Unit there.

Inaugurating the Blood Storage Unit with a Maternity Ward at Ruksin FRU on Wednesday, Libang said that their Government was taking up a number of health projects to boost rural health care services in the State.

He urged the doctors, nurses and health workers treat the patients with humanity and provide them health care services.

The Health Minister assured the people to take up all necessary measures from the Government’s end for smooth functioning of the FRU.

Welcoming the participants, District Medical Officer (DMO) of East Siang Dr Mandip Perme said his officials and staff members have been working with team spirit to ensure health care delivery in the district and rural hospitals.

He informed that the Health Department in the State has scripted a success story in preventing vector-borne diseases in the district during the last two years.

DMO Perme recalled that Ruksin hospital was established as ‘Opium De-addiction Centre’ in 1981, which was upgraded to Public Health Centre in 1987. It was upgraded to Community Health Centre after a decade in 1997 and it finally attained the present status in 2005.

It may be recalled that former Arunachal Pradesh Governor JP Rajkhowa visited Ruksin CHC in 2014 and witnessed its pathetic situation. The Governor, who took a serious note on the dismal state of the hospital, pursued the State Government for its development.

Doctor-in-charge of Ruksin FRU Dr Kadum Jonnom, who spoke on the occasion, said that despite limited resources his team has achieved 100 per cent in routine immunisation for last three years, while the doctors have performed more than 630 major surgeries in the hospital during the period.

Among others, Pasighat West MLA Tatung Jamoh, Director of Health Services Dr M Lego and East Siang Deputy Commissioner Tamiyo Tapak spoke on the occasion and appealed to the medical staff members to serve patients with discipline and ensure them smooth service delivery.
