Two child development project officers (CDPOs) of Arunachal Pradesh – Mailong Taku Moyong and Shilakani Namshum and one ICDS supervisor Nuri Elapra were on Tuesday conferred with ‘National Poshan Awards’ by the Women and Child Development Ministry in a glittering award ceremony held at the Ashok Hotel here.

While Moyong is the CDPO of Mebo Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Project in East Siang, Namshum is the CDPO of Lekang ICDS Project in Namsai district. The duo was awarded with the block level leadership award by the WCD Ministry.

On the other hand, Elapra, supervisor of Tezu ICDS Project in Lohit district, was honoured with the Individual Excellence Field Functionary Award.

The National Poshan Award is institutionalised by the WCD Ministry.

The Ministry last month announced to give awards to those who helped in the implementation of the ‘Poshan Abhiyaan’ and had asked the States and Union Territories to shortlist work of frontline functionaries who have worked towards making ‘Poshan Maah’ (Nutrition Month) a success.

The month of September was celebrated across the 36 States and Union Territories as ‘Rashtriya Poshan Maah’ under ‘Poshan Abhiyaan’ as part of the National Nutrition Mission which aims to bring down stunting of children in the age group of 0-6 years from 38.4 per cent to 25 per cent by 2022.
