Assam: One nabbed with 262 grams of heroin in Guwahati

Guwahati: A police team apprehended a person for allegedly possessing at least 262 grams of suspected heroin from the Jorabat area in Guwahati, Assam on Saturday.

According to sources, a police team had intelligence inputs about a vehicle carrying narcotics.

Based on the input, the police intercepted a car bearing registration number AS25J3055.

Upon searching the vehicle, 19 soap cases containing suspected heroin were found concealed in the body of the car.

The 262 grams of suspected heroin is estimated to be worth over Rs 5-7 lakh in the international market.

The police immediately after finding the suspected narcotics, apprehended the occupant of the car identified as Sulatan Ahmed Laskar (45) from Cachar, Assam.

He was arrested after legal proceedings and the vehicle used for transportation was also seized.

The police said that they were verifying the origin of the suspected drugs.

In a similar incident, a Nagaon Police team in an anti-narcotics operation recovered suspected Ganja weighing 5.256 kgs.

Based on inputs, the police arrested one accused involved in ganja smuggling and peddling.
