A foundation stone for the 5TPD biomethanation cum electric energy plant for segregated organic MSW was laid by Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) Mayor Mrigen Sarania on Wednesday.
This plant will be a first-of-its-kind electricity and manure production plant at a municipal-level from organic waste build in Guwahati.
The unique project will be led by Madhurjya Das with a group of young entrepreneurs. Das is the only Assamese in the board of the company named Green Power System Renewables.
It is a Start-Up venture by a group of IIT-IIM pass-outs from all over the country. The company will monitor its functioning.
GMC is the promoter of the project while named Green Power System Renewables will implement the project.
Madhurjya Das said, “This will be the first of its kind plant undertaken by any municipal board in the entire North East.”
The Guwahati Municipal Corporation has provided the land for the set up of the plant.
