Flagship programme North East Graduate Congress (NEGC), will start at the University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya (USTM) from February 16. This acclaimed programme is being hosted by the university for the fifth time.

10,000 students from 500 colleges across the northeast are expected to attend the event. Various competitions will be held where prizes like two wheelers, laptops, tablets, mobile phones, cash prizes can be won.

The keynote address at the event will be given by Professor Ved Prakash, former chairman of University Grants Commission. Noted author, entrepreneur and youth expert Rashmi Bansal and motivational trainer Thomas John Rose will address different sessions.

There will be sessions hosted on personality development and soft skills, competitive examinations, youth and entrepreneurship. There will be a panel discussion on ‘youth, politics and corruption’.

Some of the attractions at the event will be competitions on debate, best graduate and quiz and photography. The topic of the debate competition will be ‘GST is the instrument of economic growth’. The best debater at the competition will be awarded a two wheeler.

Megastar Salman Khan or Amitabh Bachchan are expected to grace the event. Apart from these there will be various sports and cultural competition at the event. The sports competitions will include football, volleyball, badminton, kabbadi and carom.

Preparations for this event are underway at the university. All graduate level students will be able to participate. All the participants will have to register themselves by January 30. The main purpose of this event is to provide a single platform where the students can meet noted academicians, entrepreneurs, educationists which will help them in shaping their careers.
