The Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) on Monday served an ultimatum to the Nagaland government to redress its demands on relaxation policy for the six tribes of eastern Nagaland and setting up of adequate number of B.Ed colleges in the four districts inhabited by six tribes by June 13.
In a release issued by its general secretary Imtichoba Chang, the federation warned that it will be compelled to take its democratic means of action if the state government and the department concerned fail to meet its demand within the stipulated time.
It directed all its federating units to be prepared for the same.
The federation said it had submitted a representation to the government on December 18, 2018 and a reminder on February 2 this year to redress the relaxation policy for the candidates of six tribes of Chang, Konyak, Sangtam, Khiamniungan, Yimchungru and Phom of eastern Nagaland for acquiring professional qualifications.
It pointed out that the relaxation policy came into effect on January 9, 2009, for a period of 10 years.
The federation rued that despite its representation and continuous reminders, neither the government nor the department concerned was serious in implementing the relaxation policy.
It said it had demanded setting up of adequate number of B.Ed colleges in the four districts of eastern Nagaland as the existing B.Ed colleges in the state cannot accommodate all the aspiring candidates from these districts.
