Tezpur University will conduct a debate and quiz festival ‘Progyan, the mindfest’ in association with Oil India Limited from November 14-18.
The festival is being conducted as a part of its silver jubilee celebrations. For the festival, a series of knowledge-based events are lined up for each of the five days.
The events to be held are- Debating & Oratory Skills Workshop on November 14, Inter Institution Debate on November 15, School Quiz on November 16, Inter Institution Quiz on November 17 and Mega Open Quiz on November 18.
The Mega Open Quiz will be conducted by Barry O’ Brien, India’s Ace Quizmaster. The winners of each event will get attractive cash prizes.
The Inter Institution Quiz will be conducted by Robin Kalita, a retired Indian Railway Service Officer and a quizmaster and the School Quiz will be conducted by Ashutosh Das, a national level quiz champion and also a TU alumnus.
The debating and oratory skills workshop will be conducted by Hemanta K Baruah, an associate professor of LOKD College, Dhekiajuli and Puneet Chaudhary, an entrepreneur and also a TU alumnus.
All the quiz competitions will be held in teams of two persons and for the workshop, only 50 students can participate.
The inter institution debate competition will also be held in teams of two (one for the motion and one against) and the topic for the competition is ““Mistakes made in historical times should be unmade in contemporary times”.
For the Mega Open Quiz and Inter Institution Quiz, registrations can be done on the spot by those wishing to participate.
However, for the School Quiz and Inter Institution Debate Competition, registrations can be done by sending a scanned copy of the nomination form signed by the Head of the Institution to the mail id: [email protected] within 5 pm of November 14.
