Zoom has rolled out its biggest update on Thursday with a promise of “better security” and feature enhancement.

During the last few weeks, there has been a massive growth in Zoom users across the globe, especially for online classes and conferences amid lockdown for COVID19 pandemic.

But, users were worried while using the video-conferencing app primarily because of security issues.

Initially it was reported that Zoom would take some time to invest in redeveloping the security infrastructure.

But, the developers were quick enough to respond to the concern of the users. It has rolled out Zoom 5.0, with the hope to silence the peer criticism.

Sources said, Zoom 5.0 will be available starting this week to all users. But some of the features have already showed up.

The video conferencing app will now allow users to instantly lock meetings, remove participants, and ensure password protection.

The Zoom 5.0 update will enable passwords for most customers, including the basic, single-license Pro, and K-12 customers.

With the new version, Zoom Phone admins can also decide the length of the pin required to access the voicemail.

It is assumed that with the launch of Zoom 5.0, a large number of nefarious activities, including the Zoom-bombing, are likely to minimise.

Moreover, the waiting rooms have been regularised with Zoom 5.0 update.

All hosts can now enable Waiting Room while their meeting is in progress, Zoom said in a blog post.

The contact sharing has also been improved, allowing large organisations to link contacts across multiple accounts so people can easily and securely search and find meetings, chat, and phone contacts.
