Stranded Indians in the US are buying tickets to get back home at Rs 1 lakh, while flights from London cost Rs 50,000.

The evacuation mission to bring back 14,800 Indians stranded in 13 countries is set to begin on Thursday.

According to reports, flying back from the US and the UK to India will cost Rs 1lakh and Rs 50,000 respectively, for the special flights being operated by Air India.

The Ministry of External Affairs, in coordination with the overseas Indian missions, is coordinating to bring back the Indians stranded in 13 countries.

Altogether 64 flights and three warships of the Indian Navy will bring back 14,800 citizens back to India.

While tickets for the special Air India flights from the US and the UK are the costliest, fares of the nearby sectors, including Dhaka-Delhi and Dubai-Kochi have also been comparatively high.

It has been reported that fare range starts at Rs 12,000 for the Dhaka-Delhi flights.

Similarly, flight tickets in the Dubai-Kochi sector will cost around Rs 15,000 per person.

Meanwhile, Covid-19 deaths in India started to rise sharply during the last 48 hours.

So far, there are 49,333 COVID19 positive cases reported in India, and the count is rising sharply.
