The seized tablets were estimated to be valued at Rs. 3, 94,000, BSF officials said on Monday.

A BSF spokesman said that the smuggler identified as Kalimuddin, 35, was arrested from Boreralga area in Dhubri district along the Indo-Bangladesh border.

“Acting on a tip off, the BSF troops launched a joint operation with the Assam police in Hatsinghimari area and apprehended one Indian Yaba tablets paddler along with 788 Yaba tablets,” he said.

The BSF official said the arrested smuggler was trying to smuggle illegal drugs from India to Bangladesh.

He said that he was later handed over to the Assam police for further legal action.

The tablet is often red in colour and the users normally smoke the drug off tinfoil but it can also be ingested orally or crushed and snorted.
