The students should not hanker only for securing their lives by getting engaged in jobs but choose such careers through which they can serve and bring radical change in the society.
This was observed by Chitta Basumatary, vice president of All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) while addressing a felicitation programme at Udalguri town on Saturday.
The AASU felicitated 196 HSLC first division holders and 29 stdeunts who secured star and distinction marks in the last HS final examinations from Udalguri sub-division.
The AASU leader said the students’ community of greater Udalguri district should make best use of their knowledge and skills for the uplift and welfare of the society in particular and the country at large.
The students’ leader further advised the students to set a definite goal in their life but not to indulge in malpractices like some of the engineers and doctors who forget their duty and turn corrupt officials during their service life.
“We need such engineers who can research on permanent solution of deadly floods in our state, but how many engineers are doing it for the betterment of Assam?” he questioned.
Basumatary said this while attending a felicitation programme of students as chief guest.
The felicitation programme was chaired by Abhijit S.Kashyap, president of Udalguri regional committee of AASU.
The programme was also addressed by Nitul Borah, executive member of AASU; Pranjal Patowary, president of Udalguri district committee of AASU, Col. Rahul of Golondi Army Camp; Bitopan Das, executive member of AASU among many others.
The students’ organization felicitated the HSLC and HS candidates of the last examinations with phulam gamocha, citations and a pen each.
