A confident Communist party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) reiterated that the state of Tripura will get its eight Left Front government after the results of the ensuing elections on March 3 next.

Tripura goes to polls on February 18 next.

Addressing election rallies at several places across the state on Thursday, the CPI-M leadership while reposing faith on the ‘politically conscious’ electorate of the State said, the ‘mature voters’ will ensure that the ruling Left Front government retains power for the eighth time.

“This is inevitable when the State goes to polls on February 18 to elect a new Assembly”, asserted CPI-M central committee member, Tapan Sen in as many as three election campaign rallies held at Ambassa, Surma and Matabari on Thursday. Sen is also the general secretary of Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU).

However, Sen also urged the people of the State to be on guard against ‘divisive and separatist conspiracies’ being hatched by opposition parties desperate to grab power and their attempts to create ‘communal disharmony’. He was obviously referring to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) with whom the saffron party had entered into a seat-sharing pre-poll alliance.

During his address in the election rallies, Sen also asserted that the ‘atmosphere of peace and amity’ in Tripura has been carefully nurtured by the Left forces of the State.

“But now the BJP with its divisive and separatist allies are trying to destabilize the peace and goodwill of the State as well as infuse communal disharmony; but I am confident the people of the State with their balanced consciousness and matured political judgement will defeat this conspiracy,” added Sen.

He also came down heavily on the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre accusing it as ‘pro-rich’ and a government with corporate weakness.

“This pro-rich, pro-corporate government has to be defeated in the next Lok Sabha election and the people of Tripura will have to show the way by play a sensitive role by ensuring a Left Front victory in the ensuing Assembly election,” Sen further added.
